The little school house at Island Lake and N. Territorial Rds., two miles west of North Lake, is being remodeled and painted for its 80th birthday this fall. Archives of the Chelsea Board of Education may hold some official designation for this rural school, but the memories and hearts of northwest Washtenaw county know it by one name only - Pumpkin College. Applying fresh paint is Charles Cameron of Chelsea.
