"Petitions urging the Ann Arbor City Council to appropriate funds to increase facilities at the city airport will be circulated for signatures starting tomorrow under sponsorship of the Junior Chamber of Commerce.
The reasons listed in the petition as necessitating an increase in airport facilities are "the recent increased public demand for and use of small aircraft"; "the ever increasing number of students, both civil pilot training (government sponsored) and other student pilots, for primary and secondary training"; "a greater possibility of a commercial airline stop"; "the necessity for secondary military air bases as a part of the national defense program," and " to provide a safer airport..."
Dr. C. Merle Dixon is chairman of the Junior Chamber's aviation committee, which is in charge of circulation of the petitions."
