"Schumacher Hardware was in the "Kline's" building, starting in the late 19th century. Kline's, a Monroe-based chain, didn't open their Ann Arbor store until the 20th century. It looks here as though Schumacher had built the newer building to the south, which folks still remember as the Sears, Roebuck building. Sears hadn't moved in there yet when this photo was taken." - Wystan Stevens
