Picket Line At Hoover Plant
This is one of several picket lines set up after Hoover Bearing Division walked off their jobs at 10 a.m. today in protest against lack of progress during union-company negotiations to gain a new working agreement. The strike affects 467 workers, all members of the UAW-CIO Union Local 38. Many of the workers of the Bearing Division, which is owned and operated by the Hoover Ball & Bearing Co., live in the Ann Arbor area. Hoover is a major area employer, and the union entered into negotiations with that firm about a month ago to gain a new working agreement which would replace one that expired Feb. 28.
