IS BUILDING A NEW RACER: Although Guy Apple, 1506 Broadway, has done well in the two preceding Soap Box Derbies, he is building an entirely new racer for this year's classic which will be held July 23. He is shown above just after starting construction on the car which he hopes will win him a trip to the All-American finals at Akron, O.
Last year Apple defeated Louis Stauch and Donald Fleury in Class A but was beaten in the semifinals by Merlin Hahn, who later won the city championship. This is Guy's last chance as he is 15 years old and next year will be beyond the age limit for Derby pilots.
