Why Alarm Was Sounded: dead fish piled in windrows (above) along the shore of the Winnewana Floodwaters raised fears that the impoundment had been badly hurt by winterkill. But a check showed that the kill was confined to a small area and almost certainly won't hurt the fishing. Among the dead fish were some good-sized bass, like the one at left. Since these pictures were taken, workers from the Waterloo State Prison Camp have gathered up and buried the dead fish.
