Because its service is strictly confidential, the valuable contributions made to society by the Michigan Children's Aid Society, one of the Community Fund agencies, has attracted less attention than it deserves. The society provides an opportunity for children from "broken" families to enjoy a happier, more wholesome childhood in environments where they can be built up physically and mentally. Through the society they are assured a good home, proper food, good clothing and medial and dental care. Working in co-operation with public agencies and the probate court, the society takes dependent, neglected, illegitimate, homeless and orphan children and places them either in supervised boarding homes or in permanent homes through adoption. Efforts are made to restore the child to his home, if possible. The new and more healthy outlook on life provided those children is vividly illustrated in the above photograph of one of the girls placed in a boarding home by the society.
