About 125 pounds of pig iron bars supported by means of hydraulic jacks on two of the 128 piles which have been driven for the new Health Service building on Twelfth St., indicate that the piles will carry the load they are designed for. The first 24-hour test ended successfully last night, and the pig iron will be moved to test two more piles next week. All of the piles are in place and with the second test this phase of the construction job will be ended. The gauge shown in the picture which indicates the amount of weight being supported is part of apparatus designed by Prof. William S. Housel of the University civil engineering facility.
