Chambers, 1114 Woodlawn Ave (right), was one of the first Ann Arbor consumers to buy sugar this morning when sale of that commodity under rationing regulations began and retail sugar stocks, which had been frozen for a week, were again made available to the public. Ashley Clague (left) is shown tearing out stamp No. 1 from te war ration books of four members of Mrs. Chambers' household, a process that will be duplicated in every retail sugar sale for some time to come.
