Walter A. Prochnow, Buick Service Co. President, Dies at Home Here

LEAVES TWO CHILDREN

Private Funeral Services to Be Held Tuesday at Residence and Church

Walter A. Prochnow, 33, president and general manager of the Ann Arbor Buick Service Co., died Sunday morning at his home at 821 West Huron St. after a lingering illness.

Mr. Prochnow was born in Northfield township, the son of Albert and Mary Prochnow, and for the past 27 years had resided in this city. He received his education in the Ann Arbor public schools and in 1914 he entered the employ of the State Savings bank.

In 1923 Mr. Prochnow became interested in the Ann Arbor Buick Service Co. and at the time of his death was president and general manager of the organization. He also was a director of the Ann Arbor Construction Co.

In 1922 he was married to Ella R. Bareis of Ann Arbor. He was a member of St. Paul’s church and St. Paul’s brotherhood, the Ann Arbor Exchange club and the Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Prochnow is survived by his widow; a daughter, Betty Rose, and a son, Walter A., jr., at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert M. Prochnow, and a brother, Arthur, also of Ann Arbor.

Private funeral services will be held at 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at the residence, with further services scheduled at 2:30 at St. Paul’s church, Rev. C. A. Brauer officiating. Interment will be in Bethlehem cemetery. Friends are asked to call at the residence until Tuesday noon.

Acting pallbearers will be Howard Engard, Harold Geyer, Christian Rayburn, Chester Perry, Jacob Hoelzle and Albert John.

Honorary pallbearers include Charles Sponenberg, James Dixon and Earle Hopps, all of Detroit; Rudolph Reichert, Alfred Staeb, Roy B. Hiscock, Rice Beal, Manley Osgood, Herman Gross, C. John Walz, Max Blaess, Robert H. Alber, Al Marquardt, George Salaska, Marvin Greenwood, Arthur Gallup, Joseph Mundas, Roache Shehan and Louis Vivian.
