Miss Stearns And Mr. Cramer Wed In League
Dr. Brashares Reads Service; Couple Take Cottage At Saugatuck
Patricia Maye Stearns, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry LaFayette Stearns of Packard St., and Harold Robert Cramer, son of Mr. and Mrs. L. S. Cramer of Fort Ann, N. Y., were united in marriage at 2:30 yesterday at an informal ceremony held in the Michigan League chapel. Dr. Charles W. Brashares of the First Methodist Church read the service.
The couple spoke their wedding vows before an altar banked with snowballs and tiger lilies and footed with sprays of pale pink peonies and gladioli. About 75 guests were present at the ceremony and also the reception held in the Grand Rapids room following the wedding.
The white chiffon dress of street length worn by Miss Stearns had a long fitted torso of lattice-worked silk, draped bodice with narrow, deep v-neck and full bishop sleeves gathered at the wrist. With this she wore white linen sandals and a small square-crowned linen hat with veiling and perky round pompons in front. She carried a colonial bouquet of white flowers.
MARRIED IN LEAGUE CHAPEL: Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cramer are motoring to Saugatuck for a two weeks' wedding trip and vacation at their cottage. Mrs. Cramer is the former Patricia Maye Stearns, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry LaFayette Stearns of Packard St.
Sister Is Maid
Maid of honor for Miss Stearns was a sister, Beatrice Luise, who wore a petal rose silk crepe dress with a dirndle skirt. The bridesmaid, Joan E. Clement of Lincoln Ave., had a French blue crepe dress with Irish lace pockets and collar. Both had clusters of rosebuds in their hair, matching the flowers in the colonial bouquets which they carried.
Mr. Cramer had Dorman E. Priest of Canton, N. Y., as best man and the ushers were John Wieneke of Royal Oak, and William W. Stearns, brother of the bride.
Tiger lilies and snowballs centered the tea table at the reception where friends of the bride poured and assisted with the guest book. Presiding at the tea table were Betty Brackett of Hormann Ct., Jean Crandell of Soule Blvd., Barbara Berry of Devonshire Rd., Barbara de Fries of Granger Ave., Mrs. Peter Cummins of Detroit, Nancy Bercaw of Chicago, Mrs. William Cook of Detroit and Lois Gish of Washington, D. C.
Other out-of-town guests attending the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. Cramer, parents of the bridegroom, Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Strait of Saginaw, Mr. and Mrs. T. O. Hard of Evansville, Ind., and Mrs. James T. Warner and Dorothy Keene of Detroit.
Take Wedding Trip
Combining their wedding trip and a vacation, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Cramer left for a two weeks stay at a cottage at Saugatuck. For travelling Mrs. Cramer wore a blue gabardine suit with white accessories and a white orchid corsage. They will be at home after June 12 at 2505 Whitmore Lake Rd.
The bride just completed her junior year as a student in the University School of Architecture. She is a member of Alpha Alpha Gamma, national honor sorority in design, was rushing chairman of Alpha Delta Pi, a junior editor on
Gargoyle and a member of Panhellenic Board.
Mr. Cramer is a graduate of Hussac Academy in New York and is now with Physicists Research Co. in Ann Arbor.
A dinner for the bridal party was given last Sunday by the parents of the bride at their home on Packard St. Last night six of the bride’s closest friends gave her a spinster dinner at the League.
