Second Lt. Douglas A. Cowin, son of Rev. and Mrs. Fred Cowin, 1621 Granger Ave., was reported one of four marines killed from ambush by 300 Chinese Communist troops who waylaid a Marine patrol in North China July 29. Cowin, reported commanding the Marine detachment, was riding in the lead jeep.
