
Dr. Charles E. Hood, who had lived in Ann Arbor since his retirement as a physician in North Dakota several years ago, died in University hospital after a brief illness. He was 80 years old.
He was the father of Miss Marguerite V. Hood, associate professor of music education at the University, director of the Women's Glee club and director of the Youth Chorus in the May Festival. He and his wife, Barbara Anderson Hood, lived with Miss Hood at 815 E. Huron St.
Dr. Hood was born in Amherstburg, Ont., Dec. 14, 1866 a son of Thomas and Isabelle Mitchell Hood. He graduated from the Detroit College of Medicine in 1898 and then went to North Dakota, practicing in Drayton, Cavalier, Souris and Lansford. He also was on the staff of the Minot hospital.
Besides his wife and daughter, he leaves a son, Charles E. Hood, jr., superintendent of schools at Big Sandy, Mont.; two grandchildren; and three sisters, all living in Ontario.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 Saturday afternoon at the Muehlig chapel, Rev. Harold DeVries officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill cemetery.
