Dr. L. Dell Henry Elected At Monthly Meeting Of Group
Dr. L. Dell Henry of Ann Arbor was elected president of the Washtenaw County Medical Society for 1956 at the group’s monthly meeting here last night.
She will succeed Dr. Donald W. Martin of Ypsilanti.
Dr. Frank H. Bethell, associate director of the University’s Simpson Memorial Institute, was named president-elect and Dr. B. C. Payne of Ann Arbor was reelected secretary-treasurer.
Dr. R. Wallace Teed of Ann Arbor and Dr. Otto K. Engelke, county health director, were reelected as delegates to the Michigan State Medical Society. Dr. Paul S. Barker and Dr. Harold F. Falls of the University Medical School and Dr. Gerhard H. Bauer of Ann Arbor, are other delegates.
Practiced Here Since 1941
Dr. Henry, the new president, has been in private practice in Ann Arbor since 1941, with practice limited to that of allergic diseases.
She received a BS degree from the University of Chicago and before receiving her MD degree from the same school was chief bacteriologist at the University Hospital and senior bacteriologist for the State Health Department at Lansing.
After receiving her medical degree from the University of Chicago, Dr. Henry took post-graduate training at the U-M. She was an instructor in pediatrics in charge of the old Sensitization Clinic before this clinic was combined to form the present Allergy Clinic.
Other Offices Told
Dr. Henry was secretary-treasurer of the county medical society for nine years. She is past president of the Michigan Allergy Society and past vice-president of the American College of Allergists.
She is a member of the Ann Arbor Club of Zonta International, an Immediate Past-Governor of District V of the organization and a member of the International Board of Governors.
Dr. Bethell, the president-elect, is a professor of internal medicine in the U-M Medical School and a consultant to the Atomic Energy Commission’s project for the study of biological effects of irradiation at the University.
