Harry D. Nutt, 88, of 1613 S. University, an Ann Arbor resident for 42 years, died Sunday at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital following a long illness.
He was born March 31, 1874, in New York state, the son of James and Susan Breakey Nutt.
He married Georgia Forrest on June 25, 1901, in Flint, Mich.
Mr. Nutt was a member of the graduating class of 1896 at the University of Michigan.
He taught for several years in Flint High School and was principal of Battle Creek High School for several years.
He moved to Ann Arbor in 1920.
He was a salesman for the American Book Co. from 1904 to 1946, when he retired.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ann Arbor, of which he was an elder for 15 years.
He was a life member of Lodge No. 23, F&AM, of Flint.
Mr. Nutt is survived by his wife; a son, James of Ann Arbor; a daughter, Mrs. Nathan Potter of Huntington, N. Y.; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two nieces.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in the Staffan Funeral Home, the Rev. W. P. Lemon officiating.
Burial will be in Washtenong Memorial Park.
