Historical Society Honors Lela Duff
Ann Arbor author and historian Lela A. Duff of 611 Catherine St. was granted an honorary life membership in the Washtenaw Historical Society last night, by unanimous vote of the Society.
In an official letter signed by President Herbert H. Bartlett and Secretary-Treasurer Katherine B. Groomes, the Society said:
"We the members of the Washtenaw Historical Society, having long been aware of your unselfish devotion to our organization, wish gratefully to acknowledge our indebtedness to you.
“On this, the occasion of your gift of the proceeds of your book, "Ann Arbor Yesterdays," we wish to express our sincere thanks.
“As an indication of our appreciation we confer on you honorary life membership in Washtenaw Historical Society.
“You will always have the satisfaction of knowing that, through your activities and your gifts, you have contributed immeasurably to the cultural advancement of Ann Arbor.
“You have been an inspiration to your fellow citizens, both young and old, to whom you have so successfully dedi-cated your life.”
