Unique McDonald’s Nearly Done
You don’t think this is a McDonald's restaurant? Well, it is. Designed by the local architectural firm of Hobbs and Black Associates, it’s safe to say it is one of a kind. It’s reported nearly ready to open — possibly by art fair time. The restaurant on Maynard between E. Liberty and E. William is the outgrowth of a controversy not so long ago over whether a fast food restaurant should replace a house on the site next to Nickels Arcade. Inside there will be seats for 250. The area in front will be an outdoor court with seats for about 20. That probably won’t be furnished for the opening. In the round window area is a clear plastic fixture which will protect a stained glass window made by State Street Stained Glass Works. (News photo by Richard Walker)
