German film festival planned

A festival of recent West Ger-
man documentary films will be
held at the University of Michi- »
gan on Nov. 17 and 18.

Northrhine-Westphalia, which
is one of the festival's sponsors.

Institute/Chicago, Ann Arbor
Film Co-op, and the Universi-

ty's Residential College and
German D^p^Qi^ent.

The' festival, entitled "Film-
land Northrhine-Westphalia,"
introduces a key region in the
Federal Republic of Germany
- the state of Northrhine West-
phalia - with a rich, varied
film tradition and some of the
most original talent in German
cinema today.

The films in this festival
show the towns and the
countryside of Northrhine-
Westphalia, its past and its pre-
sent, its people at work and at

leisure. "FilmL fime-
Westphalia" will open Wednes-
day, November 17, 7:30 p.m. in
Auditorium 3 of the Modern
Language Building with four
films on the region and its peo-
ple. On Thursday, 3:15 p.m.,
one 60-minute film, "Of Judges
and other Sympathizers," will
be shown in Auditorium 4 of the
Modern Language Building.
The en ng event will be
three L a ling with women
and their work, Thursday, 7:30
p.m., in Auditorium A of Angell
Hall. All screenings are open to
the public at no charge.
