Ypsilanti woman wins lottery

DETROIT - An Ypsilanti woman became the Michigan Lottery’s newest millionaire Saturday night, winning $1,000 a week for life with a guaranteed minimum of $1 million, in the “Winter Windfall instant game Grand Drawing.
Doris Mida, 59, a mother of three children, said she plans to pay bills and make donations to various charities with her prize money.
Other Grand Drawing winners were:
■ Susan Lachniet, 31, of Wyoming, winner of $25,000; Meta Slone, 39, of Burton, winner of $20,000; Jose Martinez, 24, of Detroit, winner of $17,000; Reuben Bramble, 43, of Detroit, winner of $15,000; and Sherrie Lauinger, 29, of Ortonville, $14,000.
Two home television viewers, Lauren Clarkson of Croswell and Lois Tortoloni of Wayne, each won $5,000. An additional six names were randomly picked in the Grand Prize drawing selection process to be matched with the six finalists. The last two finalists won the $5,000 awards for their home viewer partners.
The drawing was part of Saturday’s half-hour “Michigan Lottery Megabucks Giveaway” program.
The six “Winter Windfall” finalists’ road to riches began with redemption at a Lottery retailer of a signed “Free Ticket” from the instant game. Subsequent drawings from more than 3.5 million entries produced 146 semi-finalists, then the six finalists.
