Rockin' food drive set for holiday
Get ready to rock, Ann Arbor. The 10th annual Rockin’ for the Hungry, Washtenaw County’s single largest food drive, will kick off Monday and run through Saturday.
The event is sponsored by Busch’s Valu Land, WIQB Rock 103 and Food Gatherers, a non-profit food rescue-food bank program serving Washtenaw County.
Two semi-trucks will roll into Busch’s parking lot at 2240 S. Main St. in Ann Arbor. The public is asked to help sponsors fulfill their goal of filling the two trucks with non-perishable food.
Donations of canned and dry goods can be dropped off 24 hours throughout the week. WIQB will broadcast live during the food drive and musicians and local celebrities will make guest appearances.
Also as part of the week-long event, the County Connection Chorus will present “Harmonizin’ for the Hungry,” a holiday choral concert scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Friday in the auditorium of Pioneer High School, 601 W. Stadium Blvd..
Tickets are $12. Children are admitted free with donation of non-perishable food items. For information, call 761-2796.
