PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING AND PUBLIC HEARING

To discuss the

Gelman Sciences, Inc. Facility

Scio Township, Washtenaw County

The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Remediation and Redevelopment Division (RRD) will host a public information meeting and take public comments regarding Gelman Sciences, Inc. - a site of environment contamination in Scio Township, Washtenaw County, Michigan. The meeting agenda includes an overview of the Pall Life Sciences June 1, 2004 Final Feasibility Study & Proposed Interim Response for the Unit E Plume and the DEQ’s Proposed Remedial Alternative; followed by a question and answer period and a public hearing. Additional actions needed to meet the requirements of the state's environmental cleanup law, Part 201 (Environmental Remediation) of Public Act 451 of 1994, as amended, will also be discussed. Community residents are encouraged to attend and share their interests and concerns about this site with the DEQ. Copies of key site documents are available for public viewing at the West Branch Ann Arbor District Library; Washtenaw County, Dept, of Environment & Infrastructure; Scio Township Office; City of Ann Arbor, Water Utilities Department; and at the DEQ’s Gelman Sciences, Inc. web site (http://www.michigan.gov/deqrrd). the Gelman site is listed under “What's New”. Meeting specifics follow:
