The Ann Arbor Creativity and Making Expo (AACME) is back and you're invited! Come celebrate the maker movement that ranges from traditional technologies like weaving all the way to our future in robotics! Our keynote speaker this year is designer, artist, and maker Sophy Wong, who will be speaking on the intersection of technology and clothing design. Enjoy hands-on demos from local maker spaces, learn about ham radio, solder an LED badge, see an upholstery demonstration, use our heat press, and so much more! This year, we're also building our own Maker City live at AACME and you are invited to be your own architect, engineer, and builder. All ages and abilities are welcome.

Using digital fabrication techniques like 3D printing and laser cutting, her work highlights the intersection of technology and design for the human body. 2024 Schedule of Events

11 AM - 2 PM | Secret Lab
Drop-in LED Badge Soldering
Drop in and learn a bit of soldering to make your very own light-up Secret Lab or robot badge! Due to the use of soldering irons, we recommend that children be accompanied by an adult.

11 AM - 3 PM | Multi-Purpose Room
Five Thousand Dominoes and Lots of LEGO
Drop by the Multi-Purpose Room in the Downtown Library and engage with FIVE THOUSAND DOMINOES! Build a domino run, or a house, or anything you can think of! Wait, there are also SO MANY LEGOS! Build a spaceship, a goat, or even a giant domino!

11 AM - 3 PM | 1st Floor Lobby
Maker City
Let your creativity blossom and help build Maker City from the ground up. Participants are invited to create a building with a variety of materials and add it to the gigantic Maker City map!

11 AM - 3 PM | Secret Lab
Heat Press - AACME Totes
Try out the library's heat press and create for yourself a canvas tote adorned with this years AACME logo.

11 AM - 3 PM | by Library Lane
Robot Demonstration
Come and meet the local teams of the FIRST robotics league! You'll get to see the robots in action and meet the student engineers and drivers.
