Jane Eyre submitted by Commander Taffy on July 22, 2011, 8:50am Jane Eyre is an amazing but sad book.

loved it submitted by Veroni2 on August 16, 2012, 10:43am At first this book is a bit difficult to read at first, but after you get past the first few chapters you really get engaged into it. It shares a good lesson that you don't have to be beautiful and perfect to be a heroine and you don't have to meet the ideal prince to be happy. Charlotte writes in a way to really get your own feelings involved and therefore keeps you entranced even in parts that are sad or action-less. Even if it is almost 500 pages, I was sad when it was over.

Jane Eyre submitted by c_zhang on June 27, 2019, 11:35pm It's a bit hard to read, and the beginning is a bit slow, but it becomes engaging and a good read.

jane eyre submitted by qmomo on July 2, 2019, 5:39pm wonderful novel, i found it easy to get used to the language and get wrapped up in the story and characters.

Jane Eyre submitted by Emifinch on July 9, 2019, 1:43pm Hands down one of the best reads out there. I read it once a year, and my appreciation for Bronte's work only increases. Enjoyed the characters?-- Check out Rhys' Wide Sagrasso Sea about Mr. Rochester's mad wife Antoinette Cosway!

Eventually immersive classic submitted by Jinxyluis on August 21, 2019, 11:53am I initially struggled to become invested in the story. I didn't expect Jane to begin her story as a child, and despite loving her spunkiness I was little interested in this part of the story. I gave myself a place where I'd be allowed to DNF, and then, in spite of myself, I fell in love with this novel. I even now look back fondly on the portions which so vexed me on first reading with gratitude for how they established Jane's character. And what a completely captivating character she is, so much more memorable than I'd anticipated.⁣

I'm not fond of this novel's portrayal of madness, and I was often baffled and/or disquieted by the way the characters relate to one another. Some of the twists are questionable. Unsurprisingly, the changes in culture, and of course vernacular, from this novel's formation to the present are challenging, but it became obvious from the issues at hand why this novel became and remained a classic.⁣

A Lovely Classic submitted by Nay7 on August 15, 2020, 1:53am Such an empowering story

.... submitted by cutie patootie on June 21, 2021, 10:56pm If you no want to read book but still want to hear story check out movie. 1997 adaptation is great.

Powerful submitted by comet on June 10, 2022, 3:20pm A true classic that I recommend. The language can be hard to grasp at times, especially in the beginning but once you progress further into the story reading becomes much more natural, making the novel an overall very enjoyable read. The thematic takeaways of this book, such as love, feminity, and self-identity are very powerful and enlightening.
