One of the best movie musicals of all time. submitted by chuntoon on June 24, 2012, 10:59pm Amazing music. Amazing dancing. Amazing costumes. Amazing everything. Borrow it and watch it now.
fantastic submitted by airgood on August 4, 2014, 3:07pm This is a really great musical- I can't think of one that's better! The music and dancing is amazing, it has a lot of humor, and the story is fun. There's one sort of slow part in the middle that we usually fast-forward through, but it's otherwise perfect!!
A Classic submitted by Meginator on June 23, 2017, 9:45pm I had never seen this before, although I was familiar with many of the most famous scenes, and I think I viewed it too much with a modern eye. Taken on its own merits, the story is funny, the acting performances perfectly suit the mood of the film, and the dancing is impeccable (even with poor Debbie Reynolds sandwiched between Gene Kelly and Donald O'Connor!). One could quibble about the number of extended musical sequences that don't do anything to advance the plot or provide characterization, but the performances are so good that it almost doesn't matter. This is the classic Hollywood musical and clearly laid the groundwork for much that has come since.
Great Music submitted by allie0 on July 9, 2018, 7:40am The music in this show is wonderful, but the story isn't my favorite.
Never gets old submitted by Zekicmom on June 27, 2019, 9:59pm I watched this movie with my 11 year old daughter and it was such fun to see her fall in love with the music and humor. I personally could do without one very long song and dance number that feels out of sync with the rest of the movie, but still a great film.
Good! submitted by Abbie D. on July 25, 2022, 5:22pm One of my favorites!
