Jack Skellington is the King of Halloween. He becomes bored with the same routine every year. He decides to take a walk in the woods. There, he discovered a door leading to Christmastown and decides to spread Christmas joy to the world. When he is back in Halloweentown he shows his friends what Christmas is like, and he suggests doing Christmas this year instead. But things do not go as planned when Oogie Boogie, an evil gambling boogey man, plots to play a game with Santa Claus' life and creates a nightmare for all the good little boys and girls everywhere. Although Sally attempts to stop him, Jack embarks into the sky on a coffin-like sled pulled by skeletal reindeer.
DVD, region 1, NTSC; widescreen (1.66:1) presentation; Dolby Digital 5.1 surround.
Contents: Nightmare before Christmas.

Do Not Miss submitted by priestlr on July 24, 2012, 8:02am One of the greatest musicals of all time.

Love it! submitted by crazypockets on July 14, 2013, 1:55pm I never know whether to watch this at Christmas or at Halloween...so sometimes I watch it at both! It's such a fun, creepy, weird movie. Not your usual Christmas movie for sure. This is Tim Burton at his finest.

Great visuals and songs; bad message submitted by cherylo on July 15, 2013, 2:52pm Since I first saw this movie in the theater during it initial release, I have viewed this film as inherently flawed. The characters are delightful, the songs and score divine, and the visuals creepy and delicious. However, the plot resolution clearly lays out that the protagonist of the piece can and should expect for a parental figure (in this case Santa Claus) to fix all the things he screwed up. I guess it's a parable for the helicopter-parented generation.

freeaking love it! submitted by Josie Brown on July 18, 2014, 7:00pm For all the fun yet weird people out there...this movie is for you! In my opinion, Tim Burton's best film.

Classic submitted by elsbetherin on August 31, 2015, 7:23am Every year we watch this movie. It a great connection between the holidays. It also brings to light ideas of needing to be needed and made to feel important. Finding your voice

Okay submitted by ishhewitt on July 14, 2016, 5:23pm This film always seems okay to me but not amazing or great. I think Jack is too whiny.

Stunning Animation submitted by Meginator on August 21, 2017, 2:26pm The skill that went into the creation of A Nightmare Before Christmas is rather staggering; its visual aesthetic is consistent and unique, the characters are immediately recognizable and memorable, and the somewhat jerky movement of stop-motion animation fits the tone nicely. The score, too, is stunning and the musical numbers work within and outside of the context of the film. This is perhaps the film that best captures the power of Tim Burton's unique artistic vision, and it has an out-of-time quality to it that means it's just as good now as when it first came out. The plot itself doesn't hold too many surprises, but the characters are compelling and deftly portrayed both visually and vocally. There's a reason this film has such a massive cult following; it's an amazing achievement.

Nice twist! submitted by Xris on June 25, 2018, 11:52pm Liked seeing that Jack wants to experience something else besides Halloween all the time. Great songs and entertaining!

A Beautiful Movie submitted by elizabeth mayhew on August 23, 2018, 1:12am A delightfully dark movie with a well done story, and an amazing soundtrack!

The Nightmare Before Christmas submitted by lstorc on July 18, 2019, 3:54pm The Nightmare Before Christmas is a poignant tale of trying to belong and finding one's place. It is delightful, but may be too scary for young kids.

Fun Movie submitted by Abbie D. on July 10, 2022, 4:05pm I like this one a lot, fun for a family halloween movie

Fun halloween movie submitted by Bethybeth07 on August 3, 2022, 4:27pm Fun to watch with the kids and still enjoyable as an adult. Also, talk about technology ahead of it's time. So beautifully done when you remember it was all done in Claymation

Halloween all the way! submitted by suttonp on August 4, 2022, 11:20am This is a fun movie and quite creepy as well. Better for Halloween than Christmas viewing.

Twice a Year, Every Year submitted by journeyhawthorne on August 7, 2022, 12:13pm A great Halloween AND Christmas movie, which means twice the time you can watch it and have it be in season! Frankly, you could start watching it in September and not stop until January.

My favorite movie submitted by Helengio on July 12, 2023, 9:37am This is my favorite movie. I was Jack Skellington for two Halloweens in a row. I love the music. I am seven years old.
