I WANT A DINOSAUR, PLEASE! One day after school, I ran home and went straight to my Mom. I asked, “Mom, can I have a dinosaur, please?” Mom said, “No. Dinosaurs have been extinct for thousands of years!” I was very upset, so I went to my room. At bedtime, I was thinking so hard about how much I want a dinosaur. Then I had a great idea! “Maybe, I could make a time machine! I am not sure how to build one, but I need wires, Daddy’s laptop, and some light bulbs.” Then I fell asleep. When I woke up, it was Saturday morning. I ate a honey peanut butter sandwich for breakfast. I put on my clothes and then went to my room and started the plan. I drew a picture of the time machine. When it was done, I got my Dad’s laptop, wires, and the lightbulbs. “I need a box too, I almost forgot!” I thought to myself. I found an empty delivery box in the garage and took it to my room. “I need one more thing.” I thought to myself, “A button to activate it!” So I looked in my Dad’s closet and found a button made out of wood. I took everything to my room and started my project. First, I placed the box on the floor by my bed. Then I put the laptop on the desk. I connected the wires from the laptop to the lightbulbs. I put on the button and then placed the laptop in the box. I turned on the computer and found a time travel program on the internet and downloaded it. When it was done I pushed the button and the lights started to flash and electricity was all around me! Then a blue screen appeared in the time machine so I thought it was taking me where I wanted to go and I held on tight. As I was moving through time, I could hear the sound of clocks ticking. Tick! Tock! Tick! Tock! Finally I saw a HUGE white flash. Page |1 When it was all quiet I peeked out of the box. I went back in time sixty-five million years! I got out of the box and was surrounded by jungle and volcanoes. I could hear the birds fly by squawking, “Squawk! Squawk!” And dinosaurs stomping through the trees. STOMP! STOMP! STOMP! In the distance I could see a tall mountain with a nest at the top with three eggs inside. I climbed out of the box and I walked through the jungle towards the mountain. I followed a path up the mountain and found the nest. “WOW!” I yelled. I was amazed at what I saw! I picked up an egg and put it in my jacket pocket. I then went back down the mountain. When I got to the bottom and started to walk back to my time machine, I heard behind me a really loud “ROARRR!” It was Mommy Spinosaurus! She was angry that I took her egg and started to chase me through the jungle. I ran as fast as I could, I was feeling scared. I got to the time machine and quickly jumped in. I pushed the button and the time machine shook and I could hear the clocks ticking again. TICK! TOCK! TICK! TOCK! There was another flash of white light, and then it stopped. I peeked out of the box and saw my room. “Yay! I’m safe!” I yelled and hopped out of my time machine. The trip made me very sleepy, so I put the egg in my sock drawer, got into my bed and went to sleep. Page |2 Page |3 When I woke up it was Sunday morning. I stretched and got out of bed. I went downstairs to the kitchen and ate breakfast. I ran back upstairs and into my room. I opened my sock drawer and found the dinosaur egg. I looked at it one more time then put it back. All of a sudden the egg started to shake and make a cracking noise. The top of the egg opened and a baby Spinosaurus popped out. “Awe!” I said feeling very happy. I picked him up and went downstairs to find my Mom. She was washing dishes in the kitchen. “Look Mom! Look at what I found! It is a baby Spinosaurus!” Mom turned around and saw the baby dinosaur in my hands and she screamed, “EEEK!” “What?” I asked. “You can’t keep a baby dinosaur, he needs him Mommy to take care of him!” That made me feel sad because I had to take him home. I went back upstairs and got back into the time machine. I hit the button and went back to the jungle sixty five million years ago. The Mommy Spinosaurus was still there and she was sad and crying. She missed her baby. I took the baby and gave him to his Mommy. The baby and his Mommy were very happy. Mommy Spinosaurus gave her baby a really big hug and they walked away. After I came back home, I felt good about taking him back to his Mommy. I went downstairs to the kitchen and hugged my Mom. “Mom I’m sorry I took a baby dinosaur. I learned my lesson.” The End.
