The 2015 U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Obergefell extended the freedom to marry to same-sex couples across the country. However, four years later, there remains a patchwork of legal protections for LGBT people from state to state. LGBT policy researcher Naomi Goldberg will share what work remains, which states are leading the way, and what is the impact of changes at the federal level.

Naomi Goldberg is policy and research director for the Movement Advancement Project (MAP), a think tank focused on advancing equality and opportunity for all.  She has written and spoken extensively on LGBT issues including before the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights and in academic journals such as Gender & Society. Naomi received her master of public policy from the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan and lives in Ann Arbor with her wife and son.
