Theresa Brown, RN, author of the New York Times bestseller The Shift, discusses her new book Healing: When a Nurse Becomes a Patient, which tells a poignant and powerful story about having breast cancer in the United States. For this event, Theresa Brown will be in conversation with 

Theresa Brown, PhD, BSN, RN, is a nurse and writer who lives in Pittsburgh. Her third book--Healing: When a Nurse Becomes a Patient--will be available April 2022. It explores her diagnosis of and treatment for breast cancer in the context of her own nursing work. Her book, The Shift: One Nurse, Twelve Hours, Four Patients' Lives, was a New York Times Bestseller.

Christopher R. Friese is a practicing oncology nurse and the Elizabeth Tone Hosmer Professor of Nursing, Health Management & Policy at the University of Michigan. He leads nationally-recognized investigations of the quality and safety of cancer care, and generates health policy strategies to protect patients and the health care workforce. He served as a health policy fellow in the United States Senate from 2016-2017. He has authored over 100 publications, including pieces in The New England Journal of Medicine. An elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, President Biden appointed him to a six-year term on the National Cancer Advisory Board.
