Michígsm Marijuana InitiatiVe (MMI) spokeswoman said today the group's failure to obtain enough signatures to put the question of legalizing mariquana on the November ballot "is no way due to a lack of support of our goal of free, legal backyard marijuana." Deadline for all initiatory petitions to be submitted to the state for the November ballot was today. MMI feil far short of collecting the necessary 265,000 signatures, according to Coördinator Linda Ross. Miss Ross said the petition drive was started two months ago, leaving circulators too little time to gather the necessary signatures. She vowed MMI would start another petition drive, aimed at putting the question on the 1974 statewide ballot.
