'Canoe Fan calls to mind a women's hand held fan, a Native American headdress a peacock's tail feathers or the sun on the horizon. Spreading out towards the sky and to the direction on either side, its form also references a gateway or spiritual opening. A boat is often used as a metaphor for crossing over to new life or place, yet a canoe with holes will sink- playfully upsetting the expected reality of how things should be.
