Buzzed Bee: A Grown-Up Spelling Bee at LIVE 102 S First St.

Are you a spelling geek who likes the taste of victory? Did losing your middle school spelling bee on the word "broccoli" leave you demanding a do-over?

Buzzed Bee is your chance to conquer some words, prove your 5th grade teacher wrong, and do it like an adult — in a bar! Buzzed Bee will combine some of that nostalgic middle-school spelling bee vibe with a super-fun, laid-back atmosphere, the option of beer, and the guarantee that each round will get more and more ridiculous. And, of course, we'll offer way better prizes than the "Super Speller!" sticker you'd have gotten in the 5th grade.

Doors open and sign-up starts at 6:30 and the spelling starts at 7:00! Space for participation is limited, so if you want a spot in the bee, come early!

Kids! Submit Your Art To Be Juried for the 2015 Kids' Art Fair

The Ann Arbor Street Art Fair, the Original, is calling young artists from Washtenaw County in 3rd – 8th grades to submit their artwork to be juried for the 2015 Kids’ Art Fair to be held at the Townie Street Party on the evening of Monday, July 13.

Drop-In Jury Sessions will take place at the Pittsfield Branch - You need to attend only one of these three sessions. Interested young artists should arrive with 4 – 6 samples of their original artwork and be prepared to show and discuss their art work with Jurors. Artists will have ample opportunity to show and discuss their art work with Jurors.

Sessions are:
• Saturday, April 25 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm
• Wednesday, April 29 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm
• Sunday, May 3 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

The Kids’ Art Fair is a unique opportunity for young artists to interact with the community and sell their original artwork at the Townie Street Party. In addition, this is a great chance for young artists to see the jury process at work and to interact with arts educators on a one-on-one basis. The young artists receive individual attention by the Jurors and the positive feedback is often very empowering.

Young artists invited to exhibit at the Kids’ Art Fair will be notified by email in mid-May. The selected artists will be able to sell their work under tents at the July 13th Townie Street Party, which takes place on N. University between Thayer and Fletcher. (One year relocation due to construction) Additional information may be found at attfair.org.
