Perfect Pies & Tarts with Keegan Rodgers

Keegan C. Rodgers, owner of The Lakehouse Bakery in Chelsea, leads this hands-on and lively workshop on how to make the perfect pie dough.

Learn the difference between pies and tarts, understand the different fillings and crusts for pies and tarts, and understand how to blind bake a pie shell.

Attendees will leave with new baking skills, literature, and enough dough for one pie! Tastes of Keegan's baked goods will be included, too!

Film & Discussion | Salud Sin Papeles: Health Undocumented

Sparked by backlash to a neo-Nazi rally and a stream of strict anti-immigrant laws passing in Arizona, a group of activists organize to build Phoenix Allies for Community Health, a unique free clinic serving undocumented immigrants. This critically-acclaimed 2017 documentary, directed by Juan Freitez,  follows their journey, delves into the heart and history of the clinic, and chronicles the poignant stories of undocumented patients as well as their courage and resilience.

National Coming Out Day Poetry Reading and Performance

National Coming Out Day is observed annually to celebrate coming out as an LGBTQ+ or ally, and to raise awareness of the LGBTQ+ community and civil rights movement.

Our stories can be powerful to each other. Come celebrate the journey of coming out by witnessing local poets, writers, and artists perform pieces about their own journeys and identities.

This event is part of AADL's 2019 National Coming Out Day events.
