3D Printing Open Lab

Do you have something you want to design or print on a 3D printer? This open lab will provide access to the library's 3D printing resources including printers, filament, and design stations! Time will be allotted for printing larger items, as well as opportunities to ask questions about the library's 3D printers or troubleshoot your own.

Soldering Open Lab

At this open lab the AADL's soldering tools will be available for anyone to use on a drop in basis. If you'd like to complete a project that's not quite finished, begin a project but need access to tools, or just see what the library offers in the arena of soldering and circuit building this lab is for you.

Friday Night AI | Consciousness, Intelligence, and Theory of Mind in Generative AI

More and more often we hear the question “Could AI systems become conscious?” It’s a question of relevance to technologists and philosophers alike, and without a good understanding of “what’s consciousness”, many out there seem to fall prey to worrisome concerns about the future of AI. Join us for a conversation with AI and philosophy experts on the complexities of intelligence, the nature of consciousness, the role of theory of mind, and the implications on AI’s (and AGI’s) evolving landscape.

Neuroscience for Kids: How the Brain Helps Us Speak

Learn about the brain and how it helps us to speak. This event will feature story time with Your Fantastic Elastic Brain, a children’s book about the brain, as well as different educational crafts and activities, including making 3D models of the brain and other body parts used in speech.

This event is in partnership with the University of Michigan Speech Neurophysiology Lab.
