Russell Crowe plays to his strengths. He's a podgy pitiless enforcer with a heart of gold. He has to team up with a Gosling, a police inspector who's a handsome and smart mouth. This movie shows a huge ability for comedy ... he is absolutely amusing. Crowe is perfect at his straight man ... they are a really really good double act. They have to track down a youngster who's gone missing in the 70s ... so you get great style and fashion you get great music you get a marvelous party sequence.
