Zines are self-made little magazines or booklets that can be about absolutely anything! They can be made using a single sheet of paper or printed more professionally. Zines can include writing, comics, collage, art, or anything you can think of. In this workshop, you'll be able to make your own zine and copy and share it with others. You are also welcome to bring a recent issue of your zine to show off. Presented by zine maker Steve Hughes, who has published Stupor since 1995.

Due to the nature of the tools used in this program it is intended only for teens and adults.

This program is intended for Grade 6 and up.

Design and print a keychain that says almost anything you'd like! In this basic introduction to 3D design, we'll use TinkerCad to design a keychain, then print it using the library's 3D printing resources. This session is intended to provide basic skills that can later be built upon at home.

Learn to spin your own yarn using a drop spindle. Drop spinning is an ancient craft that uses simple materials to make a spindle that spins sheep's wool or other fibers into yarn. Carol Ullmann from Spun will teach you how to draft fibers and begin to spin them into yarn.

Meghan Navoy from Rosemarine Textiles will guide this workshop, demonstrating how to use stamps and mordant paste to block print patterns onto cotton tote bags or bandanas. Participants will then immerse their pieces in dye baths to reveal the designs.

Learn four fun and simple stitches to add to your embroidery repertoire. Get started on a simple sampler that you can take with you to continue your practice. Beginners are welcome!

This introductory program will provide the tools and knowledge needed to carve and paint a small wooden mushroom.

Due to the nature of the tools used in this program it is intended for teens and adults only.

Synthesizers can be mysterious instruments and it can be hard to know why they make the noises they do. I played several for years, but did not truly understand them until I started using modular synths. This workshop will begin to demystify synthesis, give you some hands-on experience with a modular synth, and direct you towards resources to continue the journey on your own. 

Please note all are welcome, but there will be a limited number of modular synths for hands-on participation in the workshop.
