The Ann Arbor Creativity and Making Expo (AACME) is back and you're invited! Come celebrate the maker movement that ranges from traditional technologies like weaving all the way to our future in robotics! Our keynote speaker this year is designer, artist, and maker Sophy Wong, who will be speaking on the intersection of technology and clothing design. Enjoy hands-on demos from local maker spaces, learn about ham radio, solder an LED badge, see an upholstery demonstration, use our heat press, and so much more!

Sophy Wong is a designer, costumer, and maker creating artistic wearable technology. Using digital fabrication techniques like 3D printing and laser cutting, her work highlights the intersection of technology and design for the human body. Sophy has been featured by Adam Savage's Tested.com, Nerdist, Hackaday, Make: Magazine, and Adafruit. Her book, Wearable Tech Projects, is a compilation of 30 tutorials and articles about DIY wearable tech. Sophy documents her work online at sophywong.com.

Explore coding with Scratch's drag-and-drop interface. If you've never tried coding before, this is the place to start. And if you're a Scratch pro, come and show off what you can make Scratch Cat do!

Using a variety of tools and techniques you will create your very own one-string electric guitar. This program will take the entire session to complete.

If you want to get started learning about synthesizers, this is the event for you. North Coast Modular Collective will explain how to get started producing with hardware synthesizers, in a digital audio workstation, or with modular synthesizers. You can also connect with the local community of electronic musicians and instrument makers.

The Ann Arbor Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon is a communal updating event of Wikipedia entries on subjects related to gender, art and feminism. We provide tutorials for the beginner Wikipedian, reference materials, and refreshments. In partnership with the UM Library and LSA Technology Services.

Design and print a keychain that says almost anything you'd like! In this basic introduction to 3D design, we'll use TinkerCad to design a keychain, then print it using the library's 3D printing resources. This session is intended to provide basic skills that can later be built upon at home.

How does AI redefine the traditional boundaries of creativity in various domains such as art, music, literature, and design? Can AI truly be considered a creative entity, or does it merely mimic human creativity? And how can AI and human creatives collaborate effectively to enhance the creative process and produce innovative outcomes?

Learn how to draw beautiful and complex images with simple commands from the programming language Logo. We will be drawing lots of pictures on screen and explore basic coding concepts along the way.

As some typing is involved with this program, basic keyboard skills are necessary.
