Join the Michigan Community Scholars Program and members of the community in a film screening of We Have Reached The Moment.

This documentary follows Vic Barrett, who was just 12 years old when Hurricane Sandy hammered his native New York City. The film shows us Vic as he tries to explain to his climate-denying father the impacts of the climate crisis on their own disenfranchised communities.

Panelists include:

Jordan Larson is the Community Engagement Innovator with the City of Ann Arbor’s Office of Sustainability and Innovations. Jordan’s work builds community capacity, engagement, and action around A2ZERO initiatives and goals. Prior to joining​​​​​ the Office of Sustainability and Innovations, Jordan attended the University of Michigan’s School for Environment and Sustainability to pursue his Masters in Environmental Justice and Geospatial Data Science. His prior work experience includes municipal climate action planning, community stakeholder engagement, supporting and liaising with community equity advisory groups, facilitation, youth climate justice leadership education, and community organizing. 

Param Nayar is a sophomore at the University of Michigan, studying Industrial and Operations Engineering with a certificate in Sustainable Engineering. He is a Planet Blue Ambassador and last year organized a campus-wide Zero Waste Challenge at UM with four hundred students participating. As a high school student, he created and hosted a podcast about climate change, entitled Waves of Change.

Jennifer Wolf grew up playing in the Huron River and is passionate about freshwater resources and sustainable p​ractices, having implemented the Huron River Watershed Council's Information and Education Campaign for Nonpoint Source Pollution Prevention. She also t​​eaches fine art to seniors and enjoys building community while celebrating each student's capacities and talents​ in a supportive environment. She is thrilled to be part of the OSI team, combining equity and climate resiliency to forge a better future for all residents.
