No art skills, no problem.
We'll lead you through the steps to make a winter-themed painting.
Join AADL in the field on a visit to the Ann Arbor studios of local artists Tom Phardel and Sharon Que.
Tom Phardel is an artist as well as an arts educator, acting as Chairperson of Ceramics at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. As an artist, Tom is known for his introspective non-functional ceramic vessel work that focuses on the interior space and form relationships, and also for his large-scale mixed-media assembled sculptures constructed primarily of ceramic, fabricated steel, and glass.
Sharon Que works internationally in two professions that sometimes overlap; she is a sculptor and a violin restorer. This tour will cover both aspects of her studio practice. Sharon’s sculpture is in numerous art exhibitions locally, and on the violin side, she recently worked on the collection of violins at The Henry Ford to prepare them for exhibition.
Tom and Sharon’s studios are located at their residence in Ann Arbor. This event is offsite, approximately 3 miles from Downtown Ann Arbor. Transportation is not provided, but it is accessible by AAATA Route 22, and onsite parking is available.
Space is limited and registration is required by emailing fieldtrip@aadl.org. Directions to the studio will be provided upon registration.
