Description

Rose Hackman discusses her book Emotional Labor: The Invisible Work Shaping Our Lives and How to Claim Our Power. For readers of Fair Play by Eve Rodsky and Burnout by Emily Nagoski and Amelia Nagoski comes a scathing, deeply-researched foray into the invisible, uncompensated work women perform every day. She'll be joined in conversation by University of Michigan professor Christine Brown.

Rose Hackman is a British journalist based in Detroit. Her work on gender, race, labor, policing, housing and the environment—published in The Guardian—has brought international attention to overlooked American policy issues, historically entrenched injustices, and complicated social mores. Emotional Labor is her first book.

Christie Brown’s research is concerned with consumer metacognition and decision-making.  She is particularly interested in how consumers' and managers' theories about "good" decision-making influence their choices.  She is also interested in decision-making over time (i.e., preference formation and change), and the development of improved analytical models for studying consumer decision-making.

This event is in partnership with Literati Bookstore and includes a signing with books for sale.
