Live Music | Stefanie Haapala and Allye Gaietto

Join us for an evening concert featuring performances by Michigan singer-songwriters Stefanie Haapala and Allye Gaietto, who will each play their own set in this 75-minute concert.

Haapala creates acoustic indie folk music, writing lyrics, singing, and playing her guitar.

Gaietto creates lyric- and story-driven songs, with pop melodies backed by indie rock instrumentation.

New Location | ÆPEX Contemporary Performance | The Music of Julia Perry on AADL.TV

Join ÆPEX Contemporary Performance's Executive Director Garrett Schumann and mezzo-soprano Olivia Johnson (Detroit Opera House, Seattle Opera) for a conversation about the life and music of African-American composer Julia Perry (1924-1979). This event will feature rare archival materials from Perry's career as well as the first public screening of ÆPEX's video recordings of two of Perry's compositions, in which Olivia participated as a vocal soloist in June 2021.

Canopy by Pneuhaus and Bike Powered Events at A2SF

Canopy is a grove of illuminated tree-like sculptures that continuously transform, illuminating and expanding as participants power them with bike-driven generators. Canopy empowers its visitors by giving them a first-hand experience of green electricity generation. As Canopy’s players pedal and see their efforts transformed into large-scale beauty and are invited to be amazed with themselves.

This interactive installation is open to the public Tuesday, June 21 through Saturday, June 25 beginning at 5PM each day.

ADG7 at A2SF

Award-winning traditional Korean music revivalists Ak Dan Gwang Chil (ADG7) bring their sensational contemporary folk-pop repertoire to A2SF this summer. The group has honed their sound since 2015, a rich blend of Korea’s sacred, shamanic ritual music and beloved folk songs of Hwanghae Province in the northern reaches of the Peninsula.

This summer at A2SF, join the Little Miss Ann Band for a fun, upbeat, interactive family music event that is sure to have everyone dancing, singing, and clapping along! Ann Torralba, aka Little Miss Ann, is a nationally touring Chicago-based kids musician with six award-winning albums of fun, genre-spanning family music under her belt. Her latest is the breezy kids rock EP Welcome Spring, produced by Grammy winner Dean Jones and released this year on 8 Pound Gorilla Records.

A leader in children’s entertainment in the Washington, DC area, Uncle Devin is an award-winning drummer and percussionist who specializes in family funk. He is co-owner of The Uncle Devin Show®, an interactive musical experience for children that uses percussion instruments to cultivate their minds. The music is a compelling mix of the fun educational tunes of Schoolhouse Rock and DC’s own Trouble Funk, a foundational local group that helped popularize funk and go-go in the Washington metro area.

Kids Rock Concert @ TOP | Miss Paula and The Candy Bandits

Kick off our Kids Rock @ TOP series with Detroit-based guitarist and singer/songwriter Paula Menssner, also known as Miss Paula, performs candy-coated punk for kids and adults alike. Before dominating the kids music scene, Miss Paula was known for her bands The Roomates, Vertical Pillows, and Motor Dolls. After becoming a mother to two daughters in 1998, she reworked classic nursery rhymes into rock and roll tunes with her punk rock group The Candy Band. After five albums and four performances in a row at Lollapalooza, they parted ways in 2015.
