in·cu·ba·tor is a space for technology-based artists and creatives to interact with guest clinicians, workshop performance ideas, receive feedback from peers, and discuss the advancement of mixed-media. This meet-up is a low-pressure and collaborative environment that will give those working in technology-based art and those interested in incorporating technology into their art, a supportive and experienced community by which to bounce ideas and hone techniques.

Scent references in literature connect us to emotions and memories embodied in ourselves and fellow human beings. We extract smells from text without realizing it, locating internal experiences in the brain and sense-making the rest as we immerse ourselves in story.

Familiar aromatic references create a bond between reader and story, but what about scent references particular to a culture that readers are unfamiliar with?

Get ready for AADL's 32nd It's All Write! teen writing contest with this workshop with local Author Mimi Olson!

Middle-grade author Mimi Olson’s storytelling workshop will help middle school students find inspiration and identify the stories that are all around them. In addition to covering many elements of drafting a short story, participants will learn where and how to start their own pieces. She will also read an excerpt from her novel Middle School is No Place for Magic.
