Long hailed as one the most iconic works of mid-20th century American design, the Miller residence is noted for its material and formal elegance. While the designers—and indeed, the client—for this project were of global importance in both reach and influence, local designer Peter Osler will present a less common reading of this landmark, emphasizing its abstraction of familiar midwestern landscape typologies and cultural memes.

Alan Paul's new book, which focuses on the Allman Brothers smash hit album of the same name, also presents a broader cultural history of the era, covering stories of how the band rescues Jimmy Carter’s flailing presidential campaign, Gregg Allman’s marriage to Cher, and how the band’s success led to an eventual breakup. Martin Bandyke, formerly of ann arbor's 107one will host the event, which includes a signing with books for sale.

You must be 18 years old, live in Ann Arbor, make less than 225% of the federal poverty line and be an entrepreneur, broadly defined. Researchers from the University of Michigan will be on hand to talk about the program and answer all your questions.
